Catholic Principals’ Council of Ontario (CPCO), the Ontario Principals’
Council (OPC), l’Association des directions et directions adjointes des
écoles franco-ontariennes (ADFO), and Victim Services Toronto (VST) have
been working together to develop a system-wide response strategy to
cyberviolence and cyberbullying.
The three associations and partners, with funding provided by the Ministry
of Education, worked as a team to design and develop a tool for Principals
and Vice-Principals to use when planning for and dealing with incidents of
cyberviolence and cyberbullying in schools. These incidences include
internet luring, harassment, sexual harassment, bullying, stalking, threats
of violence and sexual violence using social media.
This Proactive and Reactive Placemat Tool was pilot tested by Principals
and Vice-Principals in the Toronto area, refined, and then shared with four
school boards in North, East and West areas of Ontario.
The Placemat Tool has been finalized and rolled out across all 72 boards in
Ontario.
