Anticipated Secondary Vice-Principal Position

  • Principal’s Qualification Program, Part 1 (must be achieved); Part 2 (must be completed no later than June 2021)
  • Achievement of, or progress toward, a Masters degree preferred
  • Religious Education, Part 2 or equivalent (Specialist preferred)
  • Recent experience in a Catholic leadership position is an asset
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality Catholic education, and a philosophy toward staff, students and parents that clearly reflects Catholic values
  • Strong knowledge of Catholic curricula, programming and instructional leadership
  • Self-motivated and innovative, with demonstrated problem-solving and supervision skills
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills

Secondary School Vice-Principal Shortlist

York Catholic District School Board

Required qualifications/experience:

  • Part II of the Religious Education Course (equivalency);
  • A participating member of a Catholic worshipping community as attested by your parish priest;
  • Completion of Ontario School Principal’s Qualification Part I and Part II as per Ontario Regulation 176/10 (Teachers’ Qualifications) made under the Ontario College of Teachers Act
  • Candidates who are currently enrolled in the PQP and are within two years of completion may apply and be considered for the position in accordance with Ontario Regulation 298 (Operation of Schools – General) made under the Education Act;
  • Completion of the YCDSB Discernment Series for Aspiring Vice-Principals prior to placement;
  • Part I of the Special Education Course or the Special Education for Administrators AQ Course;
  • Minimum of seven (7) years successful teaching experience in both divisions (Intermediate and Senior) with one year experience in some position of responsibility in education;
  • Positive recommendation from the candidate’s Principal and appropriate supervisory officer; and
