Mark Albert Lugli

1965 - 2019

With heavy hearts we share that our friend and colleague Mark Lugli (aged 54) of Northwest Catholic District School Board, with his son Jacob, passed away tragically in a car accident on July 21, 2019.

Mark was a passionate advocate for Principals and Vice-Principals who never shied away from asking the tough questions and seeking improvements in Catholic education. He joined the Catholic Principals’ Council Ontario (CPCO) in 2002 and was an active member within the organization holding the roles of Local Association President for 6 years (2011 – 2013 and 2016-2019), as well as Local Association Lead Negotiator for 6 years (2010-2011 and 2014 to present). He was a mentor of students, educators and leaders. His guidance is a great loss to education in Ontario.

In addition to his dedication to CPCO and the Local Association, Mark was a man who loved his family and school community. He always had a curious smile and never failed to leave you laughing after you had spoken with him. He was attentive to the conversation at hand and left you feeling important. As an outdoors man he spoke fondly of taking his boat out to the lakes around his home and regularly invited CPCO friends to join him for a day of fishing or golf.

Mark leaves behind wife Lynn Konkle, his children: Alex, Zack and Gabby, mother Louise Lugli, and siblings: Peter, Mary, twin brother John and Monique. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 26 at 11:00 a.m. in the Dryden Memorial Arena with Rev. Alan Campeau officiating. If friends desire, donations may be made to the DREAM (cheque payable to City of Dryden) through the Stevens Funeral Homes P.O. Box 412, Dryden ON P8N 2Z1.

On behalf of Ontario’s Catholic Principals and Vice-Principals, Mark will be greatly missed. Let his memory serve as an inspiration to continue the work that he began. We trust that Mark and Jacob are with the Lord and that their memories will guide us in the future.

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.
My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. And you know the way to where I am going."

John 14:1-4
