French Immersion Teacher Retention and Developing the French Immersion Program

In response to some of the challenges facing FSL leaders, CPCO and OPC have designed a 5-hour online module to support Members and Associates. Participants will explore leadership strategies and ways to mitigate issues identified in research regarding the development of the French immersion module.

Facilitated by practising principals with experience in French immersion settings in both public and Catholic schools, this module focuses on collaborative knowledge building and mobilization to:

  • identify leadership strategies to improve FSL teacher retention
  • determine the factors leading to FSL teacher attrition and
  • understand as an Instructional Leader how to support FSL educators in their professional learning.

Participants will need to complete the 5 hours of work over a two-week period (July 6-17). As part of the module, there will be one synchronous session that participants must attend. Options regarding the timing of the synchronous session will be discussed with the participants.

The fee for this learning opportunity is subsidized through a government funded FSL Project managed by the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association (OPSBA) and space is limited.

Registration deadline: July 6, 2020.
